Go claim it and sell it at a shipyard.Īnother way to make some easy cash is to scavenge stuff from battles. You will of course need a duplex or triplex scanner to find it. Best Buy locator and Best Sell locator cost about 20k each and are also worth getting as a trader once you've built up a little cash.įor a quick cash injection early on, there's an abandoned ship in the top right corner of Menelaus' Frontier (go exploring to find this sector - it's a little way to the north and east of Argon Prime). It's good to invest in trade command software mk1 and mk2 early on, so you can see what the buy and sell price of goods at a given station are before you dock there. Not much you can really do about that but go somewhere else. One thing you will find immensely irritating is seeing another trader ship docking at the station before you, buying out a load of what you want to buy, and sending the price up. Buy ore from ore mines for around 50 to 70 credits each, sell for 130 to 180 (or more if you're lucky). Buy energy cells from solar power plants at 12 or 13 credits each, sell them for 18 or 19. To start trading, it's best to trade stuff like energy cells and ore. It costs about 100k and uses energy cells for each jump. Get the jumpdrive from the Terracorp Headquarters in Home Of Light (1 jump south of Argon Prime, 2 jumps south of Herron's Nebula where you start as humble merchant). Any tip to make money in the beginning, in a custom game? Tried a kill mission, but even without wasting any time going about it, the timer ended 2 minutes before I could reach the target. is trade only doable over long distances? Is it wize to try doing it without a jump drive? So far in the stations I visited, the price of trade goods are the same, preventing trade. Where to find that jump drive I hear about? how much does it cost? TC is my first X3 game, and I barely scratched the surface, but I think I like it. Well, there's at least some inertia, you drift a little when you turn. Occasionally found a crate of free stuff near some of the tubes, where some silly trader had bumped against it. And I haven't build any complexes yet, but I was actually rather fond of my spaghetti complexes in X3R. You stop your engines -> your ship stops dead. I'm afraid it's still a case of "Physics? What physics?". Nevermind, I just ordered X3TC from play, will give it a go when it arrives. I thought it had, but trying a second time it came right back. Despite my final post in that thread, it didn't actually solve my problem. I posted on egosoft forums, tried everything with my logitech controller, remapped keys, and gave up. I went some distance from the bustle of that starting system (mostly to get away from Bandana That name always makes me laugh), and even stationary, it still happened. Before I did anything on starting anew, I wanted to try getting used to the controls etc, so tried manouvering about and SETA just wouldn't stay on. Regardless, my problem was that I would adtivate it, then after a time it would just disengage by itself. The ship Julian starts in has SETA, I'm fairly sure. Which I'm happy with - no need to fix what ain't broke! I haven't noticed any graphical upgrade over X3R (although I'm sure it's there), but then X3R was fairly shiny and pretty to begin with. Some other fairly minor UI tweaks which will take a while getting used to, such as (apparently) not being able to auto-dock.įrom the limited amount I have played, it just seems like X3R but with some more ships, stations, equipment, etc and some new sectors added. Not a great hardship (and I can probably reassign that function anyway), but annoying. I miss being able to right click, getting a mouse cursor and being able to just click stuff. The mouse + keyboard controls aren't the same as with X3R (unless I changed my controls in X3R and forgot about it), so it feels quite awkward to play. I keep watching it over and over again (I know it's sad). First impressions: intro sequence is quite frankly AWESOME. YAY, I've finally gotten round to buying X3TC. Did your ship actually have a SETA device installed?Īnyway.
